Scholarship Offered by OMEPEGE-SEK and Intercollege
The Federation of Transport, Petroleum and Agriculture Workers of SEK (OMEPEGE-SEK), in collaboration with the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and the Cyprus Maritime Academy of Intercollege, announces the offering of a full scholarship (100% tuition coverage) for the Bachelor’s Degree in Nautical Science for the 2025–26 academic year.
This scholarship is part of the Cadet Scholarship Program and is aimed at young men and women who wish to pursue a career at sea as deck officers.
Through this initiative, OMEPEGE-SEK and the Cyprus Maritime Academy join forces to promote the career prospects of young people and to strengthen Cyprus’s maritime industry with well-trained professionals.
The announcement was made during a press conference attended by Mr. Charalambos Avgousti, Secretary General of OMEPEGE-SEK; Mr. Nicolas Kythreotis, Executive Director of the Cyprus Maritime Academy at Intercollege; and Mr. Kyriakos Patsalides, Director of Academic Affairs.
Mr. Charalambos Avgousti emphasized that the scholarship is an important step towards increasing access to the profession of Merchant Navy Officer and expressed his hope that it will inspire young people who dream of a career at sea.
Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship Application:
- Academic qualifications
- Adequate knowledge of the English language
- Socio-economic background
- Successful performance in a personal interview
