1

Know the structure of the face and body, which are the main subject of the field of study, so that the student can independently apply the most appropriate and effective treatments in an Aesthetics center.

2

Select and apply appropriate laboratory equipment to provide safely the most appropriate and effective treatments in an Aesthetics center.

3

Practice the profession in accordance with the legislative framework and the rules referring to the hygiene and safety of a beauty center, as well as beauty and wellness units.

4

Understand the general epistemological background in the field of medical and health sciences. These specific courses give to the students the essential tools to know the human body/organism, in order to understand correctly the aesthetic approach to clinical problems and pathological conditions that they may face in the specific field (e.g. cellulite, acne, skin ageing, pathological hair growth, etc.).

5

Apply cosmetic products and be able to recognize their basic properties and characteristics. This will strengthen their cognitive training and their ability to be able to equip a beauty center with the appropriate cosmetic products and propose the suitable products according to each skin type. At the same time, cosmetology courses significantly enhance knowledge in relation to alternative and specialized treatments applied in Aesthetics centers.

6

Understand the evolving and multifaceted field of Aesthetics, since beyond basic courses, students are educated epistemologically and practically in wellness courses, having the opportunity to learn innovative applied techniques, developed in the specific sector. These courses significantly enhance their knowledge and strengthen their professional qualifications.

7

Design, equip and manage an Aesthetics center with all the required modern specifications and according to the required safety and health rules.

Programme Profile

The Program aims to provide high quality of knowledge, dexterities and skills in the field and technology of Aesthetics. The infrastructure of the study program has been prepared according to relative study programs abroad, after a research review and in line with the instructions and specifications provided by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education.

The field of Aesthetics is complex and the proper training of the student requires the gathering of knowledge from a wider field of subject areas. The provision of specific and structured knowledge through the program will give to the student the main resources to have the ability to organize independently the operation of an Aesthetics laboratory while at the same time being able to work and safely provide appropriate services in areas related to aesthetics, beauty and wellness.

The 4-year Program of Study provides to the students education at theoretical and practical/laboratory level, based on five core thematic modules (with all subjects being compulsory). These modules are General Structure and Knowledge Enrichment Courses (1st Thematic Module), Courses in the Health-Medical Sector (2nd Thematic Module), Specialty Courses in the Field of Aesthetics (3rd Thematic Module), Cosmetology Courses (4th Thematic Module) and Management and Entrepreneurship Courses (5th Thematic Unit).

The combination of thematic units/courses mentioned above constructs a structured Study Program through where the student will be qualified in both epistemological and practical/laboratory level. The Program also aims to enhance significantly student’s experience through the organized provision of regular practice periods both in aesthetic laboratories and in other professional units active in the field of beauty and wellness.

Requirements & Regulations

The minimum admission requirement to an undergraduate programme of study is a recognized High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or equivalent internationally recognized qualification(s). Students with a lower HSLC grade than 7.5/10 or 15/20 or equivalent depending on the grading system of the country issuing the HSLC, can be approved under certain conditions.

Admission to the program is also evaluated on the basis of the candidates’ performance during an admissions interview.

Course assessment usually comprises of a comprehensive final exam and continuous assessment. Continuous assessment can include amongst others, mid-terms, projects-study work or study work oral presentation.

Calculation of letter grades based on the weight of the final exam and the continuous assessment and the actual numerical marks obtained in these two assessment components. Based on the course grades the student’s semester grade point average (GPA) and cumulative point average (CPA) are calculated.

The student must complete 240 ECTS and all programme requirements.

A minimum cumulative grade point average (CPA) of 2.0 is required. Thus, although a ‘D-‘ is a PASS grade, in order to achieve a CPA of 2.0 an average grade of ‘C’ is required.
