The “Mechanical Installations Technician” programme involves installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical installations in residential and industrial plants, as well as the organizational supervision of construction machinery. With the appropriate theoretical and practical training, as a graduate of the programme you will be able to correctly apply the various practical methods applied in the field of mechanical installations (plumbing, central heating, air conditioning) and will also develop the skills needed to improve the quality of work of a technician.
Recent surveys conducted by various authorities and bodies on the perspective of various professions in Cyprus, showed that there is a great shortage of properly qualified people in key technical areas of the industry, of the construction and especially in sector of mechanical installations. In addition, it has been reported that there is a steadily increasing demand for qualified personnel, in the period 2010-2020, in specific technical sectors including the industrial and construction sectors. The above-mentioned facts, combined with the lack of such a programme of studies in Cyprus, has led to the creation of this programme in order to meet the increasing demands of the profession and to provide you with excellent prospects for advancement and satisfaction in the sector of industry and construction.
The same studies showed that there is a significant gap between the relatively untrained technical staff and engineering graduate scientists particularly in the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering.
Indeed, recently there has been an intensive effort to train and certify certain professionals in specific sectors of the industry and construction, with satisfactory results. Also, the simultaneous imposition of certain European regulations and laws in these areas has helped to upgrade vocational training in Cyprus and thus, our inevitable alignment with current industrial standards. However, it has emerged that not even that approach bridges the gap between the skilled technicians and graduate engineers. This does not solve the interim needs of the industry, such as the role of a well-trained supervisor and a project assistant.
The purpose of this programme is to supply skilled and trained personnel with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills, able to cope with the increasing challenges and industry requirements as a Technician of Mechanical Installations. Actually, as a graduate of this programme you will be the link between the scientist mechanical engineer or architect, and the technical staff, whilst also you will be exercising technical and organizational management of a mechanical construction.

Career Prospects

As a graduate of this program can work as:
1. A freelance, who will be dealing with the installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical installations and systems.
2. Qualified groups supervisor and project assistant in Technical companies, engineering offices or workhouses operating in the sector of mechanical engineering.
3. Head of department in Commercial enterprises and organizations engaged in manufacturing and selling of equipment and materials in the sector of mechanical engineering.
